Gherard Lang<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This story was born out of a <strong>child&#8217;s wish<\/strong>, as is often the case with any Christmas story.<\/p>\n<p>It was a cold morning at the end of November, a child looked out of his window and saw the snow falling in flakes and thought about how many days were left until <strong>di<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Little <strong>Gherard Lang<\/strong>, after that day, began to ask his beloved mother every morning how many days were left until Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>The mother, a little tired of the usual question, had a brilliant idea to make little Gherard realise how many days were left until Christmas. She prepared <strong>24 biscuits typical of the Christmas<\/strong> season, and divided them into 24 bags. From that day on, every morning Gherard would open a bag and eat the biscuit inside. When they were finished, it meant that Christmas Day had, at last, arrived.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4989\" src=\"https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"643\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine1.jpg 643w, https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine1-440x293.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>From cookie to&#8230; calendar<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As he became an adult, <strong>Gherard<\/strong> walked past a <strong>bakery<\/strong> and remembered when his beloved mother used to bake him her <strong>special biscuits<\/strong> in anticipation of <strong>di<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThis is how the <strong>Advent calendar<\/strong> was born, and the first version was a printed board with <strong>24 windows<\/strong>, in which mothers could place biscuits and chocolate to help their children keep time<strong> until Christmas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4988\" src=\"https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"643\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine2.jpg 643w, https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.romeeatfoodexperience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Immagine2-440x293.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2026and today?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Today the <strong>Advent Calendar<\/strong> has become a <strong>Christmas tradition<\/strong> that children and adults cannot do without. Whether bought or made at home, every year every family has its own calendar.<\/p>\n<p>While the favourites remain the <strong>cardboard<\/strong> ones, where a chocolate is hidden behind <strong>every window<\/strong>, today you can find calendars of all kinds between pull-out drawers, interlocking compositions and musical tunes. And every flavour, from alcoholic calendars to gourmet calendars and finally \u201cmake-up\u201d calendars.
