Did you know that in this “strange” period you can visit hundreds of museums online for free from the comfort of your own home?
In fact, you do not need to physically go to the place of the exhibition: everything can be enjoyed online.
Due to the Coronavirus, most museums in the world were forced to close, so technology has come into play, helping us to overcome this obstacle and giving us the opportunity to continue to travel, albeit virtually.
And we joined in too! If you would like to live an immersive experience in ancient Rome and discover all the secrets of becoming a perfect ancient Roman, book our online experience!
Museums just a click away…and for free!
All you need is a simple mobile device, be it a tablet, a laptop or a smartphone, to get lost in the halls of the most beautiful museums in the world. And everything is absolutely free.
This initiative was promoted by many tourism boards to survive this long period of restrictions. And think, it all started from a statement by the director of the Uffizi in Florence, who said: “Let’s avoid any contagion, except that of beauty”.
Hashtag and art: rediscover beauty
Let’s start with the beauty of our country. In Italy, home of art par excellence, there are many museums that have opened their doors to technological innovation, allowing thousands of people to visit their collections.
In Milan, the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology has launched the #storieaportechiuse initiative. This is a digital story through which users see what is not usually shown: behind the scenes, private collections and interactive workshops.
GAM in Milan also offers a similar activity with #laculturanonsiferma, offering its visitors photographs of the masterpieces on display.
The Pinacoteca di Brera (Brera Art Gallery) offers a truly original service: in turn, its employees talk about the gallery’s works on social media.
In Turin, we have the Egyptian Museum, on whose website a Virtual Tour is available, developed by the students of the Polytechnic of Turin, to explore the halls and precious showcases of the museum.
The famous Uffizi Museum in Florence was one of the first to put itself on display. You can comfortably move from Botticelli’s Venus to Primavera or choose HyperVisions, online virtual exhibitions that offer suggestive insights and stories combined with high-definition images.
And Rome?
Get ready to immerse yourself in the beauty of the capital! Even Rome, in fact, offers several initiatives to continue to make travelers from near and far dream.
For example, the Gallery of Ancient Art, which tells about the museum and its exhibitions on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Its most interesting column is #andavadimoda, which rediscovers the trends of the past.
If you are a lover of ancient Rome, you can’t miss the virtual tours to the Colosseum: a unique journey to let you experience one of the most iconic monuments of the city.
Around the world!
Not only Italy has joined this interesting initiative, but many museums around the world have also opened the doors to their wonders. First of all, the British Museum in London or the Guggenheim in New York.
If you are passionate about classical art, you cannot miss the Archaeological Museum of Athens with its exhibits of Greek history.
We still have: the National Art Gallery in Washington, or the beautiful Casa Batllò in Barcelona, a riot of color and wonder.
In Brazil, the São Paulo Museum of Art has joined, which houses over 8,000 works including paintings, sculptures, vintage objects and photographs from all continents.
Paris offers a visit to the Musee D’Orsay, where you can virtually admire the works of some of the most famous painters in history: Monet, Manet, Cezanne and Gauguin.
Finally, we have the Pergamon in Berlin, famous for its collections of ancient art and the Van Gogh Museum, another pearl of the city of Amsterdam.
As you can see, traveling is still possible, but most importantly we can enjoy beauty from the comfort of home, waiting to experience it live as soon as possible!
If, however, you are in Rome, you can participate in our walks around the “Rioni” of the city in total safety, and discover curiosities and secrets really unmissable!
